Small Wonders

In the studio, I’ve been exploring a new direction — a series of small original works that celebrate play, process, and discovery. Each piece begins as an experiment in cutouts, layering, and negative space, often acting as a study for larger works still to come. Intimate in scale but rich in story, these small originals capture those first sparks of imagination — the moments when ideas start to take shape.

Using woven maps adds another layer to these little works. I often find myself trying to remember which suburb, which street, or where in the world the map once belonged. Layering these obscured names and places anchors the artworks in space and time, giving them a quiet sense of purpose and wonder.

Discovering new and old tongue twisters along the way became more than a playful addition of text — they invite curiosity and conversation. You can’t help but lean in to read them, to try saying them aloud. These works were a joy to create in the studio, and I hope you’ll find the same sense of fun and discovery when you hang them in your own space.
