The Story Behind Shirley Temple and Rupert

Shirley Temple and Rupert was one of my earliest mirrored landscapes. The idea began as an image of a landscape reflected below, a surreal, dreamlike symmetry that felt both strange and captivating. 

I had been given a stack of vintage English magazines. As I sifted through their pages, I cut out buildings, figures, and curious objects. Alongside them, I discovered quirky phrases and odd snippets of text — fragments of language that surprised, delighted, or made me pause. These became essential elements of the collage, layering imagery with playful meaning.
